Traditional Modelmaking

Process Description:-
Traditional modelmaking encompasses various production methods such as handcrafting, machining, turning and fabrication. These methods can be used as a production solution singularly, or in conjunction with other Rapid Prototyping techniques. Traditional modelmaking can still prove to be the most cost effective solution in certain circumstances.

Process overview:-
   • Turning, machining & fabrication of any engineering plastic
   • Basic turning, machining & forming of many ferrous & non-ferrous metals
   • Handcrafting & machining of modelling foam & resin block materials
   • Models can be finished to a high standard
(for full list of finishing options see Product Finishing & Painting)

Applications:-
   • Bypassing of 3d cad modelling
   • Specific material requirements
   • Modification work to existing products or models
   • Solid appearance models
   • Large format / low feature complexity models
   • Basic study / space models

Available Materials:-
Any Engineering Plastic
Many ferrous & non-ferrous metals
